Success for Carolina Pettersson vs.
Sniezana Babajeva at FIBO, Germany
|
April 21-22: Carolina Pettersson (SWE) wins against Sniezana Babajeva (UKR), who is
ranked 1st with left hand and 4th with right hand (-50 kg) in Engin Terzi's World ranking.
|
|
Article from Ampower.net: "The duels in ARMFIGHT system in ARM WARS version organized by and Englishman Neil Pickup were held in Germany in Essen. Famous players: Sniezana Babajeva and Carolina Pettersson were invited to women’s duels.
The duels on the right arm took place on the first day and Carolina won with the result 6:0.
On the second day the women were fighting on the left arm and their duel ended with the result 5:1 to Carolina’s advance. I don’t want to excuse Sniezana of the defeat but Carolina had the upper hand of 8kg form the beginning. She also presented a great way with fight unlike Sniezana (as Igor Mazurenko said), she was fighting like a leopard. Sniezana says that she’s preparing for the European Championships and the fight was not so important for her. We wish them success in Poland and wait for next interesting duels.
Julia Hozyainova"
(Sidenote: Carolina weighed 56 kg in Essen. / Charlie)

Larratt vs. Bresnan & Goodridge vs.
Kadlec at the Toronto Pro Supershow
- June 2nd - Toronto, ON, Canada
|
|
Message from Eric Roussin on Northeastboard.com, April 29th:
I'm excited to announce that the Toronto Pro SuperShow will now feature Major League Armwrestling (MLA) supermatch action! The quintuple elimination Ontario Ironman Open tournament will be kicked off by an MLA right-hand supermatch between Devon Larratt and Tim Bresnan. MLA rules will apply for the match, meaning the first puller to reach four wins will be the winner. The match will take place at noon on Saturday June 2nd.
A big thank you to Ian Carnegie and the MLA for making this match happen. Ian has also made arrangements for Scott MacInnis and Armsport Videos to film the event.
Remember - the quintuple elimination Ontario Ironman Open Armwrestling Tournament features cash prizes to the top 25 finishers!
The full details of the tournament can be found here:
http://www.torontoprosupershow.com/content/ontario-ironman-open-armwrestling-tournament
New message, May 8th:
"I'm pleased to announce that another MLA supermatch will take place on June 2nd a the Ontario Ironman Open (at the Toronto Pro SuperShow). In addition to the Devon Larratt - Tim Bresnan match, armwrestling legend Gary Goodridge will be facing current 242 lb Canadian national champion Dan Kadlec in a first to four wins right arm supermatch! Dan has only been in the sport since January 2011, but he's already had many big wins in Canada, beating all comers to win a national title with less than 8 months of experience! Gary was the best armwrestler on the planet in the mid '90s and though he's not in the same shape he was back then, he's starting to make a return to the sport and he's up for a challenge.
The supermatch will take place at noon on June 2nd.
Don't miss this opportunity to meet many top armwrestlers, and also compete in the quintuple elimination open class!
Remember, following the supermatches, Devon and John Milne will be manning an armwrestling booth the entire weekend. This is a perfect opportunity to get some great tips.
Thank you Ian Carnegie for setting up this match!"

Eric Roussin on Northeastboard.com:
"We are attempting to keep track of all supermatch results on this page of the Armwrestling History Channel. If you know of any results that aren't listed, please let me know.
http://www.armwrestlinghistorychannel.com/2012/03/2012-supermatches-results.html
From ArmwrestlingHistoryChannel.com:
"While prior to the year 2000 they were a relatively rare occurrence in organized armwrestling, Supermatches (also known as Arm Fights, One-on-Ones, Challenge Matches, etc.) have since become very common and recognized by many as the best way to determine who is the better of two competitors. They are matches that are typically consisted in a best of 3, best of 5, best of 7, or six-round format. They are featured prominently by several of the world's top professional armwrestling organizations. Because of their popularity and importance, the Armwrestling History Channel will be keeping historical records of supermatches held around the world. This section of the site will grow considerably in the coming months. If you are aware of supermatch results that aren't posted, you are encouraged to contact one of AHC's editors"

Khadzimurat Zoloev - "Genetics is the
secret of my wins"
- Interview on Armpower.net
|
|
|
|
Armpower.net: "In a bar of the Moscow fitness club, we meet with an eight-time World Champion, six-time European Champion and multiple Russian Armwrestling Champion, and at the same time a smiled and very nice player Khadzimurat Zoloev. Khadzimurat told us about the sports Zoloevs’ dynasty, the plans for this year and an ideal girl.
Julia Hozyainova: Khadzimurat, tell us about your sports way.
Khadzimurat Zoloev: At the beginning I trained weight lifting but I did not go a bomb. In 1996 in a huge training hall, in which my uncle and dad were the first trainers, was built in Wladykaukaz. By the way, my uncle Kazbek Zoloev was the first Russian Armwrestling World Champion, before him there was no one who did so well in Russian armsport. Of course I was also interested in armwrestling, but because of my age I did not take the trainings seriously. I came to trainings, messed around, for me it was a good idea to spend time. After some time I realized that it’s why I lose. And I did not like losing.
And then you decided that you should take it seriously to achieve better results.
KZ: Yes, but it was a long way. At my first tournament, organized for clubs from Osetia, for which I was preparing on the right arm, I was so sure that I would win, that I went on to fight with “cold” muscles and I broke my arm in the first fight. After a surgery and three month long recuperation, I was training for half a year and when I in the next tournaments, on the first day, because of the lack of experience I broke my left arm. After that all my friends called me a “transformer”.
Two fractures and it did not spot you!
KZ: No, rather, on the contrary, I realized that you have to take every tournament seriously and cannot relax. Not only the physical preparation is important but also mental preparation before the duel. You should not disregard your opponents and overestimate yourself. From 2001, as a representative of junior team I got my first win at the World Championships. A few years later, when I was a multiple World Champion and I saw no opponents in my weight class (it was in 2009), I let myself relax. I really thank Janis Amolins who beat me then. I lost then, because I forgot of the control and I was too sure, that I was unbeatable. Janis was really well mentally prepared and he won. It was a good lesson for me..."

Heard in the World
of Armwrestling |
|
Mixed comments and
gossip recently picked
up in the world of
armwrestling.
|
|
- "Now for my opinion of were John might get. Well IF, "and thats a huge" IF he can stay injury free, I do believe he can be the best in the world today. Of course this would spark the debate of what is the best and how to determine that. Over 6 rounds, I think Devon would beat even a healthy John but I dont think this is the best way to determine the best in our sport. IMO best of 3 is the proper way and I do think a healthy John can win best of 3 over anyone.
Only time will tell."
- Change is inevitable. Change can be uncomfortable, at first, but is needed.
Might I dare propose a permanent change. A change that could easily raise $50k for the Olympic bid....and/or take our sport to the next level.
Here it goes...
- Engin: "two great armwrestlers, they both have wins against eachother, war of the best ever vs current best and things are getting a bit personal as well.. can you guys feel the adrenaline ?! no? just close your eyes and imagine both athletes in great shape starting to grip up for 6 rounds ? how about now, do you feel it now?"
- Jimmy Payne MC'd Petaluma for many, many years. He is a ball of fire and a fantastic man!
- "Don't get injured. THIS IS THE HARDEST ONE. Know how to listen to your body. When to push, when to rest."
- "Don't Move, Go ~ Ready, Go ~ How Are You, Go ~ Get Set, Go....... doesn't matter what is being said --- it matters in how it is said! The words are not the key. The saying is."
