Egle Vaitkute of Lithuania did what (according to the rumor) no other woman have done before - she took a win against the legendary Russian Irina Makeeva with right arm!

Heidi stopped Irina's hit and held on surprisingly well. After 3-4 seconds (what I remember) Heidi got an elbow foul..

In the restart Irina finished the match quickly.

Irina Makeeva, Russia and Egle Vaitkute, Lithuania met in the Open final.
Irina got a good start and won the match convincingly. But Egle wasn't happy about the start for some reason (I didn't catch exactly what happened), but the referees insisted on the call and Irina took home the gold for the second year in a row.

"Next European Armwrestling Championships are comming. To help you with registration for this championships we are preparing online registration form to create this document in easy and fast way.
Our online registration form will ask you about your federation and country details, about your competitors and theirs category classes and after that, our system will prepare the PDF document filled with your details. To register your country for European Armwrestling Championships - Moscow 2010 you have to send registration form to EAF General Secretary, Director of Scoring or to me till 15th of May 2010. Remember to send it by email. In every moment, you can login once again to this system, and change informations about competitors and federation.
To use this registration form, we have to prepare for you login and password. To create it, we have to confirm your email adress.

Neil Pickup: "Well I'm delighted to announce that the dates of the BIGGEST and most highly produced Professional Armwrestling event on the Planet have now been confirmed for 2010.
|

ARM WARS "LEGACY"
|
|
Will take place at the Magnificent Trafford Centre, Manchester, England on the weekend of Friday July 23rd through to Monday July 26th infront of a live audience of up to 10,000 and to a potential TV audience of 230 Million people across 64 Countries.
This will be the second event featured in series two of the weekly "International Armwrestling" Show on Eurosport International and I'm delighted to be able to confirm this SuperEvent in plenty of time to allow the invited Athletes lots of time to prepare for their matches.
This years event will feature some familiar faces with "MONSTER"MICHAEL TODD proposed as the headline for the show against the Super exciting and intense WAF Heavyweight World Champion Gennady Kvikvinia of Georgia as well as a new selection of World Armwrestling Stars making their ARM WARS & TV debuts on the Biggest event in the ARM WARS Calendar.
Turkish Legend ENGIN "THE RAGE" TERZI is set to make his ARM WARS & Eurosport debut as is Super Heavyweight Legend FERIT OSMANLI (Farid Usmanov) and many, many more. :)
:) THE CALL TO ARMS IS ABOUT TO BE MADE AND THE NEXT ROUND OF WARS WILL SOON BE ETCHED IN STONE AS THE LEGACY CONTINUES !!! :)

These were two different kind of Overall classes as the ones we usually see on tournaments. The winners of the heaviest men's and women's classes - in this case Krasimir Kostadinov and Sarah Bäckman - got to pull against all the other winners in the lighter weight classes. Both won, not totally surprisingly, all their matches and won 3000 SEK each (about 305 EUR).

"Hiya mate, just wanted to confirm that this weekend I'm actually in Disneyland Paris & I signed the contract for the 2nd (& 3rd) Series of International Armwrestling on Eurosport yesterday soooo ITS ON FOR ANOTHER 52 MORE THIS YEAR & THEN A FURTHER 52 NEXT !!! "Anthony Dall'Antonia took this video of John and Devon practicing at their last practice in Vancouver. John said it was his last practice before his match with Arsen on March 13th. Devon is going to the Arnold on March 5th and 6th. I am sure neither of them were fresh for this match, and it is just practice, but fun to see. John looks lean and mean and ready to stomp on Arsen.
Anthony's Story that he posted on the NE Board:
"So Devon was having breakfast with me & my bro sunday morning when John called. When we found out that John was going to make it Devon was Pumped! Dave Hicks was driving over from the airport with John & Dev was fired up waiting in the gym. As they arrived the guys here were all looking at John & wanting to meet him & John just came straight to the table & locked up with Devon & they started to pull like BEASTS!! It was AWESOME!"

Krasimir caught Sharon's sidehit and turned him over for the win, as can be seen in the pic. Krasimir won -100 kg and +100 kg with left arm and also -100 kg, +100 kg and the Open category with right arm. (there was no Open left category). Sharon placed third with left arm in +100 kg (P-O Svedberg second) and took second place in +100 kg. |

Here are some info from Karen Bean, Executive Director of AAA, about the Yukon Jack tournaments (Northeastboard.com):
“Yukon Jack was a Canadian whiskey, produced by Heublein. It was a new whiskey that Heublein wanted to introduce to the American market. So, Heublein hired a PR firm out of New York that decided to use armwrestling as it’s platform for advertisement. Main reason was the manly inscription that’s on the label on the back of the bottle. In the late 80’s, Heublein was bought out by Diageo, who still produces the whiskey.
Armwrestling benefited tremendously from the Yukon Jack events but Yukon Jack itself was of course never involved nor was Heublein or Diageo. Everything was run between the PR firm and the AAA. Once the company felt it had accomplished getting the whiskey onto the market good enough, it no longer needed the armwrestling platform for advertisement.
It was great while it lasted.
GNC used the same PR firm for a few years to promote its new product line Pro Performance and once again, due to the product line that was needing
advertisement, the AAA worked with the PR firm and we held events.
Events like these are short lived only due to the fact that a product needs introduced and armwrestling fits the bill. It won’t be long and it will be
happening again. But no product is going to ever continue to use armwrestling for its advertisement on a permanent basis. So, all we can do is enjoy the
ride while it lasts.”

"Dear friends,
by this, I would earnestly request you to Morocco as the tournament organized by our Vice-President Mr Elmamoun can be a success. It is crucial and essential that you try every means to send one or more members of your country, competitor or official. So is the credibility of our sport in this country and this continent. This year, Mr Elmamoun has secured the participation of TV and the tournament will be enhanced by the presence of the provincial governor. It is therefore very important that we should be likely to participate in this event.
I stress very hard on this point especially for African and Mediterranean countries. By our presence, we will allow the Moroccan federation to demonstrate that our sport to a place in this country and allow the recognition of it by the highest sports authorities of Morocco. Make a special effort, I ask you as a service to your friends. I will of course be present at this event.

Since October 2006 Heidi Andersson runs an armwrestling project together with World of Armwrestling. Thanks to the project, armwrestling tables are being donated to schools and recreation centres around Sweden with the help from sponsors.
