Craig Sanders Vs Piotr Bartochewisz was an outstanding BATTLE !!! such as shame three of the SUPER LONG pulls ended on fouls for Craig when the outcome of the match was very much in the balance. Piotr deserved his win and I was very proud of my team mate Craig who competed like the Gentleman and Warrior he is.
Smart pulling from Dieter he thoroughly deserved his win over a very strong but mentally unsettled Marcin Lachowizs. The difference in the athletes mental focus decided the out come here in an absolute clash of styles.
John controlled Dima when really necessary and seemed in cruise control throughout really. None of the matches were actually in the Hook (Dima didn't want the Hook !!!!????) he was balling his hand up and trying to keep John's wrist flat or so it appeared. He was running to the back of the pad with a lot of back pressure before sweeping to the side. John won the match with superior hand and wrist gaining control with counter back pressure then driving the side pressure through Dima and separating him from his shoulder to the pad. In the last match John literally FORCED Dima towards the Hook and Dima used everything in his power to resist John had to much strength in the hand and wrist and Dima running straight back with his wrist straight ran straight off the back of the pad, despite John signalling that he wanted to Hook. Dima wanted no part of John's hook.
Devon Larratt Vs John Brzenk in London, on September 13th again seems like a real possibility now, with John looking slightly recovered from his wrist woes. Hopefully that match will come off !!! I know Mr. Larratt wants it BADLY and as everybody knows John would pull The Devil in Straps when he is healthy. ;)

Arsen Liliev dominated at Murat
Boyraz Championship 2008

As you can see in this result list Arsen Liliev was the man who impressed the most in Istanbul this weekend! At 78 kg he was one of the most impressive competitors at last years Nemiroff World Cup in Poland and many people directly asked him why he didn't gain more weight to get even stronger and therefore be able to compete against the very best out there. Arsen listened and went home and trained. And he trained... And then he showed up at Murat Boyraz Championship this weekend, weighing 92 kg, 14 kg heavier than at his unforgettable shape at Nemiroff World Cup 2007. Confidently he entered the -90 kg and -100 kg classes and simply dominated everybody! In the 90 kg class he placed above world class pullers as Stoyan Golemanov, Jan Germanus, Krasimir Kostadinov and Viacheslav Muriev (the 90 kg European Champion) and in the 100 kg class he won against Jamshid Usmanov, "Anaconda" Süreyya Ayce and took yet another impressive win against Ion Oncescu. The new 100 kg european champion Genady Kvirkvinia placed third...

- Alexander Balabanov, a 20 year old bulgarian competitor won against the russian world- and european champion Roman Tsindiliani with right hand.
- During the tournament Stoyan Golemanov won twice against Viacheslav Muriev who recently won the European Championship in the 90 kg class with right arm.
- Arsen Liliev won all his matches under 1 second each...

Here's a clip from the Utah Armwrestling Training Camp which Bob Brown, the host of the USAF Unified National Armwrestling Championship, held at his home a few days ago. The National Championship will be held in Salt Lake City the 1-3 August and many local armwrestlers showed up at the training camp to prepare themselves for the upcoming championship.

John Cole: "This past Saturday June 28 Bob Brown had a big get together at his place in Salt Lake City, Utah for arm wrestlers and friends. One shows John Brzenk working out on my updated arm wrestling machine, new torsion grip handle and increased back pressure adjustment. The other is a picture of what you don't want your opponents forearm to look like, that you're arm wrestling."

"I didn't even have time to put on my game face.
In less than a second my hand was down and I had crashed out of the 31st annual NYC Big Apple Grapple Arm Wrestling Championship. It happened so fast I didn't even feel it.
My abysmal performance shocked me. Admittedly, my last arm wrestle was in third grade against a girl, but I did win. So I walked into the Jacob Javits Center Sunday full of confidence."

After all the impressive pictures and videos with strongman Denis Cyplenkov most of us asked ourselves what this monster from Russia would be capable of if he would be matched up with someone of the absolute best in the world. Fortunately the wait wasn't long! The 13th of June we surely got to see some of Cyplenkov's potential when he was matched against Andrey Pushkar from Ukraine with left arm, the winner of both the heavy weight class and the Open class at the last Nemiroff World Cup in December. If anyone in Europe could stop Cyplenkov it would be Pushkar, but when the matches were over Cyplenkov stood as the winner with the score 6-0 and suddenly it was pretty obvious that we have a new king of the lefties here in Europe!

Denis also got the chance to try Alexey Semerenko on the training table. Alexey had just pulled six matches in the Vendetta and couldn't give his best but it was still interesting to see Cyplenkov against a topranked armwrestler like Semerenko, fresh or not. Just see the video on Armpower.net...
The question now is - can anybody beat this guy? Hook seems to be out of the question so the best answer would probably be a great toproller. Now wheeeere can we find a fast, explosive left handed toproller with an attitude? Yes.... we need to look west!!

Vendetta: Brzenk VS

Rumours said that John Brzenk was going to meet Arsen Liliev in a right handed Vendetta match in Yalta, Ukraine the 18th of July. It has now been announced that the match unfortunately has been cancelled due to a bicep injury Aresen Liliev has suffered. A couple of days ago they informed that John instead will meet the incredible russian armwrestler Dima Kochiev, once ranked 5th in the world with right hand.

"As you know Arsen Liliev have some injury. So President of PAL - Igor Mazurenko made some calls and he found a new opponent for John.
Igor called to Ruslan Kokoev and he made proposal to prepare Dima Kochiev to fight with John Brzenk for World Champion title. Dima was very happy for this opportunity. Right now his weight is about 99 kg but there is no problem to lose some kg. He told us that he was 93 kg and there was no problem with his arm-power.
John Brzenk agreed for this fight by phone. He said: "I'm ready for this".
So - at 18th of July in great city Gdynia (north part of Poland) we are going to prepare fight for PAL World Armwrestling Champion. Stay tuned!

Since October 2006, Heidi Andersson runs an armwrestling project together with World of Armwrestling.com.
In brief, the project works like this;
Every month a company is given the opportunity to adopt/buy an armwrestling table. (Heidi's World Champion table, manufactured in Storuman) which the company donates to a school or recreation centre of their own choice. Instruction and introduction is held by the nearest armwrestling club.
- Students are, thanks to the donation, given an easily available activity which does not require any special equipment, it's easy to practise and also suitable for disabled people. A perfect activity for children and youth with hyperactivity. |

The companies get their logotype as a decal on the sides of the armwrestling table and also a banner here at World of Armwrestling.com. When it's time for introduction of the table we send out press releases and declare which company that makes this possible.
