The February table

Students travelled 340 kilometers to learn how to armwrestle

Monday the 11th of February during Biathlon World Championship Heidi Andersson and the armwrestlers from Östersund and Strömsund gave a free armwrestling instruction for students and teachers from 9 different schools. It was a total of 70 persons from Ånge, Östersund, Piteå, Hoting, Gällö and Gäddede who were present during the instruction.
 
An armwrestling table was donated live on radio Jämtland to the school "Kyrktåsjö skola" during the instruction. The students had travelled 340 kilometers totally to take part at the instruction. BIG THANKS to Corporate Express who made the donation possible!

In January there was no donation but instead we can now look forward to two donations of armwrestling tables in Mars. Which schools who will receive the tables will be revealed soon!

The December table

"The clock is just before nine, it's minus 13 degrees celsius outside, it's calm and quite. Inside the dining room at the school Parkskolan in Storuman there's a totally different atmosphere. The children of the school sits on chairs and benches in half of the dining room, full of expectation. The warmth rises and the talk, giggle and the whispering makes the "volumemeter" which is placed on the wall, to show "warning for high volume". What's making these children in such high spirits? Well, today Heidi Andersson, the armwrestler from Solitude, will come and leave them a junior armwrestling table, measured and adapted to fit them as well as possible. 

One of the teachers reaches for the microphone and tells that today they will be visited by Heidi Andersson, the armwrestling world champion and asks them if they know why.
- We will receive an armwrestling table, the children says. 
The table which will be given stands on the floor infront of them, painted in red and green and with a photo montage on the top of the table.

The teacher keeps telling about Heidi and how strong she was already as a child, almost like Pippi Longstockings. The children listens with intense and they get more and more eager to try the table.

The November table

Donated by Kiruna municipality

The November table was thanks to Kiruna municipality donated to "Ungdomens Hus" in Kiruna, in the north of Sweden. Heidi Andersson and Kent Andersson was there to introduce the table and Heidi said that she is very hopeful that the sport will grow fast in Kiruna. She also said that she definitely will be back next year for a training camp in Kiruna!

The October table

The October table will thanks to Elon Rabattfynd be donated to a school in Gothenburg, in western Sweden. Which school it will be will soon be determined in a competition in a local TV station in Gothenburg. More information about the competition will be up as soon as we know more.

The 27th of October Heidi Andersson and her father Kent Andersson held an instruction at Elon Ratbattfynd and prepared Gothenburg to receive their 4th school table. Today the following schools in Gothenburg have armwrestling tables: Stora Höga, Stenungssundsskolan and Bild och form.

September table #2

Companies, private persons and organizations are given the opportunity to adopt/buy an armwrestling table which they donate to a school or recreation centre of their own choice.
The project got started in October 2006 and has now had a summer break during July and August, but now we are up and running again and next in line is the city of Borås.
An italian armwrestler who says he would like to be anonymous, is fascinated by our project and covers with private funds the donation of the September table #2 which will be donated to the school "Daltorpskolan" the 25th of September.
Robert Martinsson from Fristad & Göta municipality, who through his job runs a Budo school where they train aikodo, qigong and armwrestling, will be there at the school and perform the introduction.

Heidi will take the students on a journey and will tell them some chosen parts from her 15 years as an armwrestler. She will of course also perform an armwrestling instruction for the students and later on the night the general public will also have the opportunity to meet Heidi and hear her story about her armwrestling life, the village Ensamheten (Solitude), and the future! Heidi will be supported by the local club "Dalabrytarna" during the instruction.

Armwrestling tables have become popular in swedish schools lately. The tables are stable and practically indestructible, they don't take a lot of space and fits very well in school corridors and break rooms.
Apart from the table there's no equipment needed and armwrestling is one of a very few sports which disabled and non-disabled people can compete against each other in - all that's needed is an arm!

Hyperactive students also get's an activity where they with simple means get an outlet for their energies. Armwrestling is like never before on it's way into the school world and now on wednesday it will find it's way to the school "Bergaskolan".

Thanks to the school project "Armwrestling tables to schools" which is run by Heidi Andersson in cooperation with World of Armwrestling.com, an armwrestling table (Heidi and Björn Ferry's World Champion table) is donated every month to a new school in Sweden.

Bob Brown from USA is very fascinated of this project and donated by his own expense the June table which was presented today at the school "Röbroskolan" in Storuman, Sweden.

The January table was thanks to Nordea donated to Forsärlan Miljöskola in Billesholm. Instruction was performed by the club Skåne Armsport.

Here are the words from Erika Andersson, student at the school:

"Today, the whole school Forsärlans Miljöskola got to know about the sport we all love, armwrestling. When Lennart Andersson and Daniel Andersson introduced the armwrestling table to Forsärlan the interest was enormous!
I would never have guessed that the students would skip several of their classes, armwrestle the whole lunch break and pull against everybody, even against the janitor and our principal, Kjell Magnusson.
I want to thank you a lot for this armwrestling table and all the interest you have aroused among the students in Billesholm. Thank you very much!

- Once again I would like to say: Thanks to all of you who have contributed to this pleasant furnishing detail to our school!
I would also like to inform you, after a week with the table, that it is used very often. We see happy faces, they challenge eachother all the time, I see more and more armwrestling knowledgeable students and also the respect they recieve when they teach the new beginners how to do it.
Earlier we had another table in the same room - a table tennis table - always followed by fights and incidents. Now we see nothing of that anymore - no stolen table tennis balls, no broken rackets, no angry students! Instead happy faces, as I mentioned earlier.
It's so easy: No equipment needed except the table. Put away your bag, place your arm on the elbow pad, armwrestle!
